Meet Sally, your Trichologist
I am a fully qualified trichologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of hair and scalp conditions affecting women, men and children of all ages. I hold the ITEC Level 4 Certificate in Trichology, the first nationally accredited and recognised qualification for trichology professionals. I am also a member of The World Trichology Society which is a professional body for qualified trichologists.
My passion for trichology started when a person close to me was diagnosed with a serious hair loss condition. I was immediately fascinated by the human biology and physiology of it and loved learning about the different conditions and treatments. Less joyous was the truly challenging and difficult journey she went on emotionally. It’s so hard to see someone you care about struggle with trying to keep the impact of hair loss in proportion “because it’s not a serious, life-threatening illness” and yet feeling so desperate and down, afraid they will lose all their hair, and worrying about what people will think.
I quickly realised how very common hair loss is – and how people don’t talk openly about it. Men and women suffer privately and often don’t know who to trust or what to do. I aim to solve that. My commitment to clients is to provide them with a qualified and experienced specialist who has the knowledge and expertise to diagnose and treat their hair or scalp problem, delivered with care, honesty and ongoing support.
Qualifications and Registration
My enthusiasm and knowledge grew and grew, leading me to retire from my career in education and achieve the Level 4 Certificate in Trichology. This is the first externally certificated and quality assured, nationally and internationally recognised, specialist trichology qualification. It enabled me to gain a deeper academic and scientific understanding of anatomy and physiology, chemistry, hair and beauty products, and nutrition. Fascinating! It opened up a network of fellow professionals, therapists, specialists, and access to a wider range of specialist products and services which I use to bring the best possible service to each individual client. I pride myself on providing honest information and advice to clients, giving them answers, a diagnosis and solutions.
I am also a member of The World Trichology Society which is an international organisation dedicated to educating, supporting and promoting trichologists. I find membership is a useful way to keep up to date with latest developments and network with other professionals, particularly when faced with a less common diagnosis.
As well as consulting with clients, I am also involved in supporting trichology education and deliver seminars to interest groups and hairdressers. Every day trusted hairdressers are the first to be questioned by clients about their hair loss or excessive hair shedding and thinning, or about how to treat unsightly, embarrassing and irritating scalp conditions. They witness first-hand the distress it causes and want to help. I offer hairdressers in particular, access to specialist trichological knowledge to enhance the service they provide to their clients and to enable referral with confidence when needed.
